GENERATIONS HEALTH ADVOCACY

Navigating healthcare events and conditions, one family at a time
The twists and turns of life and the aging process affect us all. It is a somber reality that at some point we or our parents will have a new and often sudden medical problem.
Even seasoned problem-solvers can feel lost when they or someone they love falls ill, gets injured, or receives a surprise diagnosis. It can be difficult to know where to start. You may feel frustrated, exhausted, or even stunned.
You will be looking for someone you can trust.
HOW we can help you and WHAT we deliver
-
Discuss and understand the meaning of a new diagnosis and the most likely concerns which will follow. We can help you create a generalized plan and approach as well as strategize on how to line up the correct medical team. You always have the option of enlisting extended support if needed.
-
Experienced eyes can make a significant difference when you are at a crossroads or feel that no progress is being made.
A case review can help reveal whether the standard of care is being met. Sometimes a client is not seeing the correct type of medical specialists or may benefit from another opinion to help with decision making.
-
We can summarize and organize a client’s records so that it is easier to get other opinions, explain what is happening to the rest of the family, and share care among family members. Many medical conditions are worth noting historically for the family.
-
This is a thorough review of medications and an opportunity to check for redundancy, safety and necessity. We provide education regarding timing and guidelines. We can create a medication chart and system and train the patient and/or caregiver to adhere to a reliable schedule.
-
We can start taking action on your behalf so that you don’t have to wait, wonder, and worry about why it seems nothing is happening. Time matters. You need a squeaky wheel sometimes.
In general, advocacy and navigation are intertwined and include:
Equipping individuals and families with knowledge and resources to make informed decisions regarding health and treatment options.
Acting as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers to ensure clear and effective communication about diagnoses, treatment plans, and standards.
Assisting patients in accessing various healthcare services, including specialists and community resources.
Enhancing the overall well-being of patients and their families. Our approach considers physical, emotional, and social health.
-
Do you need stronger guidance, education or support to get on the right path and make decisions?
-
A new diagnosis very often means a change in living situation, either temporary or permanent. We can help you make choices and connect you with resources.
Family meetings can be invaluable. Frequently family members vary on approaches to a medical issue or treatment of a loved one. Transparency and neutrality are guaranteed.

WHY Generations Health Advocacy
Having recently retired from clinical practice, guided my family, friends, and myself through the complexities of the medical system, and embraced my role as a member of the sandwich generation, I’ve reached a point in my life where I can offer services that I know are truly needed.
Every person, family, and medical situation is unique. In my role as your advocate and independent consultant with years of medical experience and a vast network of resources, I can help smooth your family’s health journey.
I have a special interest in helping adult children help their aging parents while maintaining a sense of normalcy for families.
